Computer Repairs
Virus, Trojan, Worms, Malware, Spyware and Adware
Removal
Viruses, Trojans and other forms of Malware seem to be the biggest threat to our data security. More and more people are getting infected with viruses that bypass the installed security. It is very important to have good quality virus detection software installed on your system as well as a quality firewall.
In my experience, even some of the leading brands of virus checker allow some viruses through. Some of the more popular makes of virus program just aren't up to the job but people buy them because they are a recognised brand.
It's also possible to have a good security system in place but still get malware attack your PC because you didn't keep them up to date. This results in their PC getting infected and leads to all sorts of problems such as potential identity theft, PC data destruction or annoying pop ups making surfing the web impossible. After I have dealt with the problems I will offer free advice on how to ensure it doesn't happen again.
I cover the Plymouth and surrounding areas in the UK and am able to visit you at your home and deal with any nasty infections that are invading your PC. Your PC will be scanned by several different software packages to identify and remove all of the offending files but there is likely chance that manual removal will be necessary. This can take several hours just for the scans so I would normally take the PC away in order to disinfect it and you pay a flat fee of £59 no matter how long it takes to clean your computer.
Virus and Malware removal - £35 per hour on site - or £59 flat fee

Data Recovery
I understand the devastation that losing files on your hard drive causes.
In this day and age when we tend to store a lot of information on our PC, whether it's photos, videos, important documents or music, we often don't keep paper copies or a backup. This means that if the worse happens we could potentially lose a lot of precious data.
You can rest assured that I will always try my hardest to retrieve those cherished documents for you. The good news is that in the majority of cases, I can recover most of your data, be they lost photo's of your once in a lifetime holiday or important letters. So don't panic - give me a call!
Data Recovery starts from £79 (depends upon size of hard drive)
PC Tune Up
After a while a computer's performance can decrease to such an extent that everything seems to take twice as long as it used to. This can be due to a number of factors:
- Virus infection Spyware / adware infection
- Corrupt registry
- Corrupt and missing system files
- Badly organised file structure
- Build up of temporary files
- Incorrectly configured hardware or software
We can perform a full overhaul of your system to speed up it's processing. It is recommended that your PC be checked every 6-12 months. I would be inclined to say every 12 months is a definite must however if your PC is getting slow then you might like to have a tune-up before this. A tune-up fee is definitely more economical than having to replace a motherboard and CPU because a fan stopped working.
What does a Tune-Up include?
- A thorough cleaning of the inside of the computer casing
- Checking & cleaning cooling fans on the CPU, Northbridge and Graphics Card (lubricating where necessary)
- Windows software updates checked and applied if necessary
- Malware Scan and removal - A full scan for viruses, trojans etc.
- Disk Cleanup - removal of temporary files and other unneeded files
- Disk Scan - a check for corrupted or damaged files & sectors of the hard drive
- Disk Defragmenting - for improving hard drive performance
PC Tune Up - £49
