The process of building a website involves both its design and its creation. The design is basically the look and functionality of the website e.g. The site can be designed to match the corporate image by using logos and colours from the company stationery.
The creation of the website is the actual coding and this has to be achieved in such a way as to tie in all the final elements of the finished website to form a unified look and feel whilst also allowing good navigation for visitors. Search engine optimisation is also applied at the time of coding.
The design also needs to take into consideration the trade off between current version browser design and making the website accessible to as many potential visitors as possible. Not everyone uses the latest internet explorer. Other browsers such as Netscape, Firefox and Opera are in use and the website needs to have cross browser functionality.
Other things that need to be considered are the displays that the website will be viewed on. Not everyone uses a 32 bit colour monitor set at 1024 by 768 pixel resolution.
I do not as a rule design using frames - frames have several problems attached to them such as confusing search engines however they can be useful in some cases so they will only be used in certain circumstances but you will be fully consulted prior to their use.
